Jake is originally from Silvis, Illinois and attended Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois. While he was there, he served the college in various roles, he was an RA, and was the President of Student Government and his fraternity. Jake changed his major a number of times, but graduated in 2015 with a major in Communication Studies.
Jake started his leadership journey when he attempted to start a new fraternity on campus. From there, he looked for a variety of roles that he could fill to serve his fellow students and college community. After a few years of operation, his fraternity was not able to colonize and ended up closing while he was serving as president. It was these experiences that shifted how Jake viewed himself and how he practiced leadership. His love of leadership inspired him to get his Master's degree in Organizational Leadership from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa.
Jake has been working in various roles in student life since 2015. At Monmouth College, he works as the Assistant Director of Leadership Development and Service, helping his students navigate their personal lives all while building their leadership skills. He speaks with students about how they can truly practice leadership in their organizations and improve relationships within their teams. Jake is also a member of the West Central Leadership Board where he helps deliver leadership development opportunities in his community. Outside of work, Jake likes attending the occasional karaoke night and lives in a rural town with his wife, Haleigh and their dog Sophie.
